Sweet Bean Travels

Travel Skincare for Women Over 40

I've been traveling internationally for years and living outside the US since 2020, and somewhere in there my skin stopped responding to what used to work. Long flights, more sun than I'm used to, hotel bathrooms with terrible light — it adds up differently after 40.

This is what's actually in my bag right now. Five products, all of which fit the liquids rule. If something looks right, add it to your cart while you're thinking about it — you can decide later.

numbuzin No.5 Cleansing Oil

Step 1 · Cleanse

numbuzin No.5 Cleansing Oil

A day of sunscreen and makeup doesn't come off with a hotel sink and a face wash. This is an oil cleanser, so it dissolves SPF and makeup properly and then rinses clean — no tight, stripped feeling afterward, which matters when your skin is already dealing with dry air. I use it as the first step of a two-step cleanse every night I'm traveling. Easily decant this into a travel-sized bottle. Use your favorite cream or foaming cleanser afterward.

numbuzin No.5 Vitamin Boosting Essential Toner

Step 2 · Tone

numbuzin No.5 Vitamin Boosting Essential Toner

This is the first thing I reach for when I land. Nine hours of cabin air leaves my skin flat and tight, and a hydrating toner with niacinamide gets it back to something workable before anything else goes on. It decants easily into a travel bottle if you're tight on space. My skin always feels refreshed after using this toner.

Eva Naturals Vitamin C Serum with Retinol & Niacinamide

Step 3 · Brighten

Eva Naturals Vitamin C Serum with Retinol & Niacinamide

If you'd rather carry one bottle than three, this combines vitamin C, retinol and niacinamide together. At 2 oz it clears the 3.4 oz TSA limit and goes straight into the quart bag — no decanting, no travel-bottle shuffle. This is by far one of my FAVORITE products. EVA Naturals doesn't get the love it absolutely deserves.

numbuzin No.9 NAD Sunscreen SPF 50

Step 4 · Protect

numbuzin No.9 NAD Sunscreen SPF 50

I live at 6,170 feet, where UV is meaningfully stronger than most people expect, and it taught me more about sun damage after 40 than any product ever did. This is the SPF I actually wear every day. It's 1.69 oz, so it goes in the liquids bag without a thought, and it's from the same No.9 line as the night set below. Put it on after your favorite moisturizer.

numbuzin No.5 Vitamin Concentrated Serum

Step 5 · Night Serum

numbuzin No.5 Vitamin Concentrated Serum

Glutathione and vitamin C, aimed at dark spots and uneven tone — which is exactly what a week of more sun than usual leaves behind. This is the one bottle I won't travel without. I like using this as my nighttime serum, but it can absolutely be used during the day.

numbuzin No.9 NAD+ Lifting & Wrinkle Care Set

Step 6 · Night

numbuzin No.9 NAD+ Lifting & Wrinkle Care Set

A lifting essence and a retinol eye cream, sold together, which is the whole reason it's in my bag — two steps instead of two separate purchases and two separate bottles taking up space. Serum first, then essence, and finally your eye cream and favorite nighttime moisturizer.

There's a longer conversation happening

Every week I send the Sweet Bean Travel Society a letter — a destination worth knowing about, a hotel I'd actually book, and what I'm watching in travel right now. It's the part I don't put on Pinterest.
